My first outdoor shoot in a while and we were greeted with glorious sunshine ( and a little bit of wind of course !) long may it continue I say, I think we have definitely had enough of the gloomy skies and rain no matter how dramatic they look in photographs :)

The gorgeous Nathaniel Beau at 3 days old. You know I dont know whether it is my pregnancy or not (and I'm thinking not ;)) but seriously these babies keep getting cuter and cuter and I keep getting broodier and broodier because of it. This little man was an absolute star during his photographs and made the cutest little "model", congratulations again Tiffany and Ged.

Had a fabulous shoot earlier with Tiffany and Ged and their gorgeous little man Nathaniel Beau. He was an absolutely beauty and thinking about it I can't believe I got away with a newborn sitting for so long without any of getting wee'd on , I LIKE him ! :)

All these newborns, its SUCH a good job I am pregnant or otherwise I would be so incredibly broody ! :)

I am SUPER SUPER SUPER EXCITED about the new website & blog I am having designed. I went to go and meet the girls at pickle design in wadebridge today and have eventually found people great enough to put up with all my demands :)
I have been sorting through thousands upon thousands of images since this afternoon, both personal and work ones to put in the new galleries, some of which made me tear up, some made me roar with laughter and some well just make you go ahhhhhh how cute !
I love having the excuse to go back through all the old sittings, it never gets old ! :)

Oh and if you need some web designers who are able to actually hold a productive meeting whilst having two 8 yr old and 5 yr old boys discussing the merits of slime and ben 10 at full volume in the background at the same time then these are the people for you lol :)

Apart from editing people's photographs ? Well I am currently desperately trying to sort some photographs out of my kiddies for the new frames for when we move from the studio. I have SO many photographs of my kiddies it is beyond silly and ones I haven't looked at in so long ! its just too hard to choose ones to put up on the walls, I have a new found appreciation for how hard it is for you all when you come to your viewings :)

So its my birthday in a weeks time, or just under, and we have a new baby coming in the summer, so I am making it my mission to buy myself some treats.
Hopefully within the next few months I can replace my current equipment.
I am hoping to trade in my current 5d for the 5d mark2
and am after a lovely assortment of new lenses to really concentrate on the newborn photography.
Hopefully by the time this baby arrives I will have a beautiful canon 50mm f1.4 and a canon 60mm f 2.8 macro lens.
Sure there are a few others I'd like to add but thats my starting list ! :)

now to put the plan into action and get shooting ..............

Well for today at least as I am about to take these two little monkeys to see toy story 2 at the cinema - wish me luck!!! :)

This is a pic I found yesterday from our travels round france in the summer. I had been going through all the photographs looking for prints for our walls at home and thought this was fab in only a way a mother can, breakfast off kath kidston cowboys on the back seat of a van in the sunshine surrounded by only the countryside, the way all summers should be spent (apart from taking photographs of your little ones aswell of course) !!! :)

Its always lovely when families come back for sittings when their family has grown. Last time I saw little george for his 1 yr sitting his mommy had just found out they were adding another little one to the gang and her they are with little evie just a little shy of her first birthday. It was great fun doing the sitting for you guys and seeing how much george has grown, and how much like him evie is , can't wait to catch up with you all again when evie is a bit bigger !

or it was 30 days ago !!! :) I am a little late this year you'll have to forgive me I have been a little on the lazy side since new year came and its taken a few weeks to get my groove back ;)
So what did christmas and the new year bring for you???? For me it bought lots of pre-xmas work (hence the lack of posts on here) and I didn't stop right up until xmas eve ! Then I had the most lovely christmas at home with my family, it was lovely but most definitely NOT quiet and relaxing ! but then what else could I expect with three children ! :)
I'm super happy to say life will be getting even noisier in our house this year when we have another little one this summer ! :)
So be prepared for a huge bump accompanying your sittings for the next few months !

This year is going to bring big change for us. We are after 2.5 years moving out of our current studio , a very sad day that will be, but an exciting one aswell as we settle down to a crazy life with four children. I will still be doing all I am currently but everything run a little differently. ALL family and childrens photography sitting will now take place on location, and newborn and pregnancy sittings will take place at either at my own home studio or at your own house.
All viewings will take place exactly as they do now but will be from my home instead, so you can snuggle cosily in front of the fire to watch your photographs with a hot cup of tea instead :) More homely for you, and great for the kids to have a nice play whilst you are watching you slideshows.
So if you are booking a sitting over the next few months just be prepared for a little bit of organized chaos as we move all the frames and equipment and get ourselves settled in.

I am also in the process of having the website and blog completely redesigned so keep an eye out for your images appearing on the new site !

Quite a few of you will have seen this photograph before, as it adorns one of the pages as a full page spread in one of my pregnancy and baby digital albums at the studio. I am currently back home for a visit with my children, and am enjoying a nice nostalgic trip down memory lane :)
I thought whilst I was here, I would capture a few photographs of my children at the places I used to love as a child.
No trip to Grandads was complete without him traipsing his eight grandchildren over into town on a saturday morning with the promise of teddy grays at the end of it !!!
Even now, some twenty years later I get excited by this shop and love the fact it has the same effect on my children with the same sugar overload at the end, luckily for me though, I dont have to contend with EIGHT hyper children afterwards ! :)
For my grandad - who always reminds me of cola bottles, sugar cubes, and those yummy white chocolate buttons with hundreds and thousands on top that are currently stuck all over my daughters dungarees !

My two favourite little men ( discounting my own boys of course ! :-) ) were back last week for some family photography at the studio in Newquay. I can't believe the little man who I first started taking pregnancy photographs of in his moms belly 17 months ago is walking, it was enough to bring a tear to my eye and I was telling everyone who would listen about it for the next week.
Oh and the other big news is that Rowen and Alfie are going to be even bigger brothers when their little brother or sister joins them in july congratulations to Ellen and Billy !!!

WOW I didn't even realize that I started this blog a year ago on february the first !

It has been such a manic year with getting the studio all set up and really getting the children's photography business well and truly established. I have had an amazing year photographing loads of lovely children and families all over cornwall. I am so blessed to have a job that I love so much, and hope it shows in the photographs I do for you all. I love meeting all the new children and families that I photograph, and getting to capture for you all, moments that are so fleeting, in our children's lives.
Yep being a photographer, a children's photographer is an amazingly rewarding job, what more could anyone want, I get to be around people who are always happy (well most of the time, apart from the odd nappy change ! ) and run around beaches, parks and woods all day long, and give people something that makes them smile, and remember precious memories every time they see it - what more could anyone want out of a job !

I am really excited about this year. I am hoping to run some amazing offers on the PREGNANCY/MATERNITY and NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY packages, specifically the DIGITAL MAGAZINE albums I am producing that encapsulate your pregnancy and/or the first few months of your babies life. Well I hope you all had a FABULOUS Christmas and new year. I'm starting to get back into the swing of things, after having far too long off I am sure :-)
I hope to be seeing lots of you very soon for all the Christmas vouchers that got sent out as Christmas presents by people, and at the viewings of all the recent sittings.
Thank you to everyone who has braved the cold weather to have outdoor shoots since Christmas , you deserve to give yourselves a BIG pat on the back ! But I think the biggest mention must got to the lads who felt the need to go for a hike on porth island in what I am sure must have been a gale force wind the Sunday after Christmas - crazy I tell you :-)

Well I think the answer would have to be YES !!!!
I have to say I actually can't believe how busy I have been, or rather I am with all my christmas sittings. I am still working like crazy trying to get everything out on time for christmas for you all. Thankyou ALL for the amazing response I have had to this christmas holiday issue of blackbird pie ( simon and vanessa I love you both ! ) , I have been in-undated with phone calls for people wanting to get in christmas sittings for their present-fix, & I have met some amazingly lovely children & families over the last few weeks aswell as having some great sittings with some returning families from last year. I can't wait to hear about how everyone loved their christmas presents and will hopefully have a selection of some of the photographs from the sittings up on here really soon.

* As a side note for the few families who I just could not manage to squeeze into the diary prior to christmas I am truly very sorry and look forward to meeting you all for your sittings in the new year !!!

THE LITTLE THINGS .........

I LOVE the little things. Ordinary , sometimes seemingly mundane things that make you realise life is that extra bit special.
Kids make this happen all the time, and its GREAT.
Sometimes its something a child says or does on a sitting that makes you think they are just the cutest thing on earth, like a little 2yr old last week who insisted on kissing me goodbye on the cheek before he left, or one little man who had to keep dragging me through the woods by his side to look for fairies, as it was completly un-negotiable , there was no way I was being any further away than a couple of paces from him at all times, "they are scared of big people you know" - needless to say his parents ended up with some stunning close ups :-)
Then there is MY children who although as we all know from our own, it seems sometimes they are on a combined 3 man ( well 2 man and 1 girl ) mission to drive me round the bend they come out with things that just melt your heart completly.
Yesterday my eldest sat me down and wanted to talk about his grandad, who passed away when he was three. He wanted me to talk about him, so I asked him what he could remember - his response "he wore a red jumper and had a crinkly face" , well what more could I say apart from he used to let you lick the spoon after making cakes of course ;-)
Then there is my three year old who runs around pretending in his words to be INDI-AND-AND-DONES and telling me he needs a jumper as he is cold and has goosegumps. Now my little girl who although not as vocal as my little men at only 17 months, the other day picked up a bracelet put it on her own wrist and said the word "pretty" talk about over achiever I am sure she is going to be a genius :-) - funnily enough I seem to recall saying the same thing about my boys when they were her age ;-)
Now I had another ( two in one day, it seems they are ganging up on me again) one of these said watery-eyed moments yesterday when I resigned myself to the fact my daughter HAD grown out of her first "propper" big shoes, and it was time to buy her some more. So we marched along to clarks and had her feet measured and bought said new shoes. Then when I got home it suddenly hit me - my little girl is big - when did it happen , did I miss it ??? I can't remember it happening, nobody warned me , I mean I only had TWO other children surely someone could have said it was coming , but no , they all kept it to themselves and that was that. So myself, and my daughter (in her brand new boots,) looking like the cutest thing on earth sat and I sobbed - but then she put her tiny little arms round my neck gave me a cuddle , pointed at her "new-oooooes" and said "pretty" with a big smile on her face. Ah well it could be worse imagin if it had been her first bra, or getting her ears pierced or introducing me to her first boyfriend agghhhh !!!!

I've decided to start putting up some of the finished products for people to see on the website and blog , as it is so easy for people to read prices on the website, but its difficult if you dont know what exactly your seeing the prices for.
Now obvioulsy none of this makes up for seeing finished products but , until you get a chance to pop in, have a cup of tea and a browse around the studio, I'll be adding some of the different framing/art options open to you on here for you to have a look through.
Underneath is one of Elliots photographs that his parents had enlarged as a 20inch square photo, so this frame would come out at roughly 28 inch square around the outside edge.

"Breakfast till bedtime " by Bambino art.

This is my first summer offering this special package to anyone holidaying in Cornwall. The idea is simple - our children grow up too quickly and the days pass by even quicker when you are on holiday. Every year families make the trek along the lovely A30 to take a summer vacation in one of the many beauty spots of Cornwall, every year hundreds of thousands of photographs are taken by those families, and what happens - mom is always missing, or dad is always missing stuck behind the lense, and occassionally a techno savvy 6 year old is missing, stuck behind the lense and when this happens invariably your heads or feet are missing aswell :-)These photographs usually end up shoved in a box on a shelf fading and feeling sad left all alone :-(
One day whilst flicking through one of the new magazine albums I had started doing it occurred to me - why not offer this for people on holiday? AND SO - breakfast till bedtime was born !
Basically, I get up at a most unsociable hour of the morning before the little ones of your tribe are up and venture to wherever you are staying on your holiday. I then start the day unobtrusivly capturing your family going about their morning. Whether thats cornflakes in your cottages kitchen, croissants on the porch or a fry up in a near by cafe.
We then continue the day perhaps going for a walk in the woods, a trip to the eden project or one of the many other nearby family attractions. In the afternoon, surfing, beach bbq's or cycling on the camel trail are all favourites. The idea is I work quietly & unobtrusively in the background letting your family go about your normal holiday activities, it is my job to make you feel at ease in front of the camera as natural is what we are aiming to achieve. At the end of the day we all have photographs of of us with our children with cheesy smiles and forced grins, this is different - a true to life photographic journal if you like. Something that when you look back at in 20 years time will make you remember not only what your family looked like but how your toddler sounded with all their new words, those baby giggles as they first step on the sand, and teenagers becoming their own person, and how it all made you feel.
Finally a few shots of little ones being read their bedtime stories and being put to sleep and what will end up an unforgettable day is complete. Your photographs will be edited and designed in to your very own magazine album (examples available at my studio or via a weblink if requested via email.) Your album is then printed at the album manufactures and posted to you within one month of you returning from your holiday.
